Kaj por 2010, SESano Jim Droege, kiu nun transloĝiĝas de Sauda Arabio al Pakistano, invitis NOREKon al Bremertono, kie lia konstanta loĝejo sidas malloĝata.

Les Kerr and I have started a Google Group called Shamrocks on the Tanana to work on preparing David Richardson's manuscript by that title, his (English-language) biography of Richard Geoghegan, for eventual publication. Let us know if you are seriously interested in this project. Access is presently tightly restricted, but we may admit a coworker or two... ;-)

NOREK 2007 ĵus finiĝis en Sidney, Brita Kolumbio, kaj la venontjara NOREK verŝajne estos en Eastsound, Vaŝingtonio (en bela insulo Orcas). Se vi volas frue informiĝi, aŭ se vi intencas prezenti ion aŭ alimaniere kontribui al la programo, konsilindas aliĝi al tiu grupo.

KIRO Newsradio 710 will be our sponsor (seriously!) when Seattle Esperanto-singers take the Narrative Stage tomorrow at Northwest Folklife. This will be the first Esperanto singalong in Folklife's 36-year history.

If anybody has a decent tape recorder and would like to tape us "Live! At Folklife!" this would be welcome.

Hodiaŭ matene en la preĝejo estis du gastoj, baptistoj el Sirio (urbo Homs). Ilia filo loĝas en Seatlo (alia filo en Montrealo) kaj tiu ĉi estas ilia dua vizito al Seatlo por viziti lin.

La edzino estas instruistino de la angla lingvo, kaj ŝi entuziasmiĝis kiam ŝi lernis (de Reiff "Mel" Olsen, ne de mi) ke mi parolas Esperanton. Ŝi diris, ke ŝi plurfoje aŭdis pri Esperanto, sed neniam vidis nek aŭdis ĝin.

Hieraŭ inter la 16h30 kaj la 18h00 ĉe Roxy's Deli‚ la restoracio kun la flavete verdega piano‚ en Fremonto (kvartalo en Seatlo) koncertis la muzikduopo Mel/Munro. Antaŭ du semajnoj Mel/Munro muzikis ĉe la bankedo de NOREK, sed ĉi-foje temis pri neesperantista programejo antaŭ ne aparte esperantista spektantaro (mi estis la sola esperantisto en la publiketo).

Some of you may know that I work as a phone center supervisor in a company that does market research (both phone surveys, mainly for government entities like the state Health Department, and focus groups, for a wide variety of clients). Today I sent this email to one of our vice presidents:

In my capacity as an active proponent of Esperanto (the International Language) I am interested in exploring whether it might be feasible to conduct a formal research study concerning awareness of, attitudes towards, and potential interest in Esperanto, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative approaches.

I revived a five-year-old thread at the Mudcat Café as a venue for posting Russ's and my translation of "Ghost Riders in the Sky", and an interesting exchange has ensued involving a possibly extant 20-year-old tape recording from some sci-fi convention of a 14-year-old girl singing, a cappella, an Esperanto version of John Jacob Niles' Appalachian Xmas carol "I wonder as I wander". Together with reminiscences about Forrie Ackerman by one of the distaff folkies.
