When Esperanto-USA updated its bookstore several months ago, one of the most anticipated new capabilities was the ability to post reviews and opinions of any item. But since then, there haven't been very many reviews posted. We really need them!

A few weeks ago, I blogged about William Auld's list of "Esperantaj Klaskiaĵoj", an excellent starting point for explorations into Esperanto literature. Yesterday, at the back of the two-volume Trezoro, I found a slightly different list. I knew there were at least two different versions of the list. I'm not certain of the revision history, though, since neither list has a creation date attached.

In 1988, the famed Esperanto poet William Auld produced a list of "Esperanto Classics" -- essentially the Esperanto canon as he saw it. He updated the list in 1997. The list, even with its flaws, is a great starting point for exploring Esperanto literature.
Here's the list with links to Esperanto-USA's bookstore for titles in stock. Some of these texts are also available from other book services (like UEA's) or even for free on the Internet -- I'll update the list with links that I find or that others bring to my attention.

Antaŭ kelkaj monatoj oni diskutis la (mal)belecon de kelkaj Esperantaj libroj, inkluzive "Kvin Virinoj de Amoro" (tr. Miyamoto Masao). Oni taksis tiun libron unu el la plej malbelaj, laŭ aspekto. Sed jen alia eldono:
Ĉu ne bela? Preskaŭ Stafeto-eca. Tiu kovrilo tre plaĉas al mi. Mi scivolas, kial oni ne simple prenis tiun ĉi kovrilon por postaj eldonoj. Povas esti, ke antaŭ la tempo de elektronika eldonado, aferoj ne estis tiel simple reuzeblaj.
Dum la lasta semajno mi alŝutis tri nove ciferigitajn librojn al la Esperanto-arkivo de Projekto Gutenberg:
Gratulon kaj dankon al ĉiuj provlegantoj! La sumo nun altiĝas al 48 libroj entute… kiam ni finfine atingos pli ol 50, la Esperanto-arkivo fariĝos unu el la 11 plej grandaj ĉe Gutenberg!
