Andrew Sly is one of the most active people adding Esperanto texts to Project Gutenberg, and notably was responsible for placing Odd Tangerud's translations of Ibsen plays and other Norwegian literature there. On Friday he instigated an effort to translate President Obama's inauguration speech into Esperanto. Michael S. Hart, the creator of Project Gutenberg, had already typed in the speech and placed it as a text at PG.
 Antaŭ kelkaj semajnoj, mi serĉis Esperanton ĉe mia loka biblioteko kaj trovis nenion novan -- mi verŝajne faris tion unue antaŭ dek jaroj, kiam mi ĵus translokiĝis tie ĉi. Dum mi estis ĉe tiu retpaĝaro, mi decidis serĉi ankaŭ ĉe ĉiuj el la regionaj bibliotekoj, ĉar nun ili apartenas al la sama sistemo. Estis kelkaj ekzempleroj de la kutimaj lernolibroj, sed tiam mi vidis libron pri kiu mi neniam aŭdis: Kavaliro en Tigra Felo. La priskribo diris malmulte: ĝi estis ĉe biblioteko en Williamsburg kaj ĝi estis por "en-biblioteka uzo" -- oni ne rajtis prunti ĝin. Mi demandis min, kiu donacis tiun libron al la biblioteko? Kia libro ĝi estas? Hodiaŭ mi iris por aventuro kaj eklernis la respondojn al tiuj demandoj.

| Our beautiful hotel, the Sheraton Westport Lakeside Chalet, is the same hotel where our annual congress was held in 1999. A limousine from the airport is free, and the room cost is moderate. During May the weather is usually beautiful. There will be excursions to the famous Arch, to the world-renown Botanical Gardens, to the zoo, and/or the art museum.

Bob Lidral pointed me toward the Rosetta Project this morning. (They have a Wikipedia page too.) I noticed that their page about Esperanto was woefully empty, so I sent them an email offering to organize a group from Esperanto-USA to flesh out their resources. I got a reply back this afternoon. Read on for more, if you'd like to help out!
